Oculus VR

One of the biggest news in technological and market has people scratching their heads; Facebook recently made a huge gamble. This will either turn into a huge success, or a huge flop. Facebook has bought a company named Oculus VR, a company which makes virtual reality head-mounted displays. Or pretty much goggles that put you into a virtual world. Now this is a risky chance on Facebook's part, and many think so. Oculus makes a virtual reality, and this is a technology that people have dreamed of. Instead of going to meetings, just put this headset on, and you're in a world that is incredible. Although this is made for gaming, advances and developments from this could lead to this being a substitute for traveling; kids sick at home could use this to go to school without making anyone else sick.

This moves the way your head does due to a low latency 360 degree head tracking. It creates a 3D view, and gives you a 100 degree field of view. But this is only the Oculus Rift. Their newer project, the Oculus DK2, has a sensor that helps detect head movements and lower latency. Latency is the time delay between cause and effect. In this case, its pretty much how long it takes from detecting your head movements to move the character in the game. This will affect game-play and will take the world by storm. I am not much of a gamer, but this really grasped my attention. Facebook buying this is what brought this to my attention, but people have negative comments.

People think that Facebook made a mistake. I do think buying this company for $2 billion is too much, but what Facebook is doing is right. They are making plans for the future. The future where my generation is the adults is going to be a race for technology. Who is the biggest inventor. Who is the smartest innovators. It will be comprised of making world better in a competition to rule the world. It is smart. You could compare this to when Google bought Samsung. Android was a small company and Google bought it for $50 million. Now Android is the most used mobile operating software's in the world, and Android devices sell more than iOS, MacOS, and Windows devices combined. I think Facebook pulled a Google to acquire Oculus.

But lets move our focus back to Oculus. I think Oculus will go far. It is inventing and innovating. With the support from Facebook, it has all the right tools and a great squad to go far. It will reinvent the way gaming is made, but I feel like it will go beyond gaming. Just to think about this brings up so many possibilities to mind, and combine this with all the right people, and get the resources, you have a world changing opportunity. This is exactly what Oculus is. A game changer. Literally.
